10 Things You Should Always Have In Your Car Whether You Are A Prepper or Not

Image
Most people use their vehicles a lot. If you live in a rural area, it is your main transportation to anywhere. If you have kids that drive, you have vehicles going at all times of the day.

That being said, there are certain things you should always have in your vehicle. Whether you are a prepper or not, you should always be prepared for emergencies with your vehicle. You could leave home and run into bad weather. You could be stuck on the side of the road with a broken down car or the weather is so bad you can't see.

The following list of items are things I regularly use, couldn't live without, and have found myself needing when something goes wrong. I am actually surprised that people do not have them in their vehicles and just think that AAA or their paid roadside service can save them. Not every place in this fine country gets cell service...

Stockpiling Needs vs. Wants: What Do You Need?

Image
Are you stocking up because you need it or because you want it? Do you really need it? How much of it will you use? How important is this item? Should you be spending your money elsewhere?

So many questions.

Stockpiling can seem so easy and so hard all at the same time. You know you should stock up on the necessities, but what are the necessities?

The necessities really depend on what you are preparing for. You may be worried about just short term events which would make your preparations look differently than your long term events. You may be just preparing for weather events as opposed to job loss. You may be preparing for a long term grid down situation.

If you are preparing for short term events (weather, etc.), your list may look like this:
Water (3 gallons per day per person)Food that can be easily eaten or heated (1500-2000 calories per day per person)Matches and lightersCandlesFlashlights and lanternsCamp stove and fuel (usually propane)Charcoal for the grill or fire pitPropane cyl…

Soap is the Prep You Should Never Be Without

Image
Soap is a necessary and good thing to have in your preps and stockpiles. You need it to stay clean, hygienic, and safe to be around. Soap gets rid of germs, body odor, and more. You keep your clothes clean, dishes clean, and sanitize counters, floors, and more with it.

Soap can mean the difference between life or death, literally, in a grid-down and disastrous situation. If you can keep yourself clean and your area clean in this kind of situation, you will not be as susceptible to germs or bacteria that can creep into your system.

In terms of stockpiling, soap should be after food, water, and light/warmth. You need to have it.

What kinds of soap should you be stockpiling though? That just depends on your preferences and your habits. You know what you use and that is what you should be having on hand. I have ten kinds of soap I like to stockpile at all times. This is what I and my family use all the time or will use if need be.

These are the 10 kinds of soap I like to stockpile for mysel…

When Daily Life (and Life in General) Seems More Important Than Prepping

Image
Let us sit down and have a chat. Just you all and me. This is a conversation long in coming but needs to be had. Grab your beverage of choice, sit back, and relax.

How has life been lately? Crazy? Busy? Too much to do, not enough time? Can't keep up with the kids, the house, the job, and all the eleventy billion other commitments too?

I get it. I totally get it. I have been there too.

How is your prepping coming? Are you ready for the upcoming weather disasters that can happen? Are you ready to leave the house at a moment's notice? Are you ready to stay home for several days in a row?

No? You haven't been prepping? Too many other things going on and you don't even have the brain power to think about it? I get that too.

Life has a way of making our priorities for us if we don't tell life what our priorities are. However, taking care of ourselves and our families should be the top priority. Prepping is one of those ways we take care of ourselves and our families. We need …

How Prepping Helps With Worry and Anxiety (A Personal Story)

Image
A fair amount of preparedness sites focus on the how-tos and the reasons you should prepare and rightfully so. They actually help you to know what to do and how to do it. In fact, there are a lot of posts on this site doing the same thing. We just want the world to be prepared and to get the message out to everyone.

One of the facets of prepping I am keen on is the psychological and, to an extent, philosophical reasons people need to prepare. Most people need something to happen or just about to happen in order to be convinced to prepare. However, some people just need to be convinced to prepare. Some people know they should and don't how to start or why they should start prepping.

The "why" of prepping really gets me. Sometimes I am baffled about why people do not prepare. It is such an easy thing to do and get started doing. Prepping isn't hard. Why don't people prepare?

Then I remember. I remember what drove me to preparedness. I remember stumbling into prepping …

What Should A Prepper Do With That Tax Refund? 25 Ideas For Spending Your Tax Refund Like A Prepper

Image
Ah, the great tax refund. Not really seen outside of America, but a welcome bonus all the same. If you get one, what do you do with it?

I know, I know. If you do your taxes right, you wouldn't get a refund. Yeah, but the government gives credits for kids and putting money away in a 401K. That is 90% of my tax refund. If you do get one and you don't have kids, you should probably examine the reasons why.

Anyway, being a prepper, this little bonus is a welcome sight for knocking out some big prepping goals. What are your prepping goals? Only you know and you should know the priority of what you need to purchase. However, I can give you plenty of ideas in case you need direction!

25 Ideas For Spending Your Tax Refund Like A Prepper

1. Get caught up on your bills. Except for basic preparedness (food, water, shelter, security), nothing is quite as important as financial preparedness. You don't need the stress of bills on top of everything else. Get caught up on your bills.

2. Get ou…

Now Is The Time To Slay The Debt Monster!

Image
Unfortunately, debt has become highly encouraged in this country. You can borrow money for a home, a personal recreation vehicle, a vehicle, land and more. You can just put it on a credit card if you have the money for it now or want to wait to pay for it. For most people, credit and loans are easily accessible and can be had for a price.

This leads to problems. Nevermind all the stress that being in debt can cause a person, it is causing economic problems within our own country. Younger generations do not want to purchase homes because they don't want to be in debt. Some of them are in debt to their eyeballs because of student loans and a defunct college degree.

While this is happening to the younger adult generations, the middle/older generations are still paying for their homes, maybe still paying student loans, trying to put their own kids through college, and have a lot of other debt too. Many people think that being in debt and paying on a loan is just part of life.

This is cra…
